  1. Know what causes anxiety.

  1. Identify how serious anxiety is.

  1. Prepare anxiety-based phrases

The typical phrase recited with this is: “Even though I have anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself”.

You can change the phrase depending on what type of anxiety you’re facing. The participant should also center his mind on how the issue makes him feel. The situation should be addressed by saying: “Even if I am anxious at all times, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

  1. Proceed with the sequence for tapping

Though there are 12 meridian points located on each side of the body mirroring themselves, the order of EFT tapping specifically hits nine meridians. Also, each of these points has a direct relationship to a particular internal organ. These are the nine major ones:

  • Karate Chop (KC)- this involves the hand on its side and corresponds to the small intestine.
  • Top of the Head (TH)- meridian for blood vessels.
  • Eyebrow (EB)- meridian for the urinary bladder
  • Side of the eye (SE)- meridian for the gallbladder
  • Under the eye (UE)- meridian for the stomach
  • Under the nose (UN)- same with TH
  • Chin (Ch) – meridian for blood vessels (central)
  • Collarbone (CB) – meridian for the kidneys
  • Under the Arm (UA)- meridian for the spleen

Start by tapping the KC point while chanting the phrase at least thrice. Next, is to tap every point in its given sequence seven times.

After you tap the last point, located in the underarm, the order finishes at the TH point.

While tapping the following points, recite a “reminder phrase” to maintain focus regarding the problem. For people with anxiety, a reminder phrase can go like this: “The anxiety I feel concerning my general wellbeing”. Repeat the whole sequence three times.

  1. Check the last intensity

At the finality of the session, rate the intensity level of the anxiety and compare it to the beginning intensity. Repeat the basic techniques until the level reaches zero. When having anxiety though, as it’s a disorder that takes a lot of time to manage, EFT tapping once and alone won’t suffice, so successive sessions must be done together with therapy or medication when needed.
